QHSE Manager Location: Kilkenny / Dublin / Belfast Duration: Permanent   Background: Veolia is Ireland’s leading environmental services company.

Overview of the role:

This role will provide professional advice and support on all Health, Safety and Environmental matters to all levels of employees within the business to meet the legal responsibilities and to promote best practice.

It will also monitor compliance in line with Health, Safety and Environment legislation and procedures and provide alignment in conjunction with the Risk & Assurance Team through leadership of the role holder’s team within Ireland



The role can be based from either Kilkenny, Dublin or Belfast dependant on what suits the successful candidate



Day to day of the role:

  • Provide assistance, support to the QHSE Director in the development of group strategic goals and promote cooperation across the group services to enable a one company approach
  • Provide support to the Business line Directors
  • Assist in setting operational team safety objectives and assisting operational teams in achieving the Company Risk & Assurance objectives
  • Provide monthly reporting on H&S performance to the business
  • Evaluate and contribute to improvement whilst reflecting real practices and decisions required for management control
  • Advise where appropriate on permitting issues and assist sites with compliance based permit costs
  • Assist with dealing in regulatory matters, auditors and compliance
  • Assist with writing new processes and procedures aligned to objectives
  • Assist with championing programs of work and raising awareness at a senior level
  • Liaise with management on types of disposal and legal requirements
  • Ensure best practice at all times


Required skills for this role:

  • Achieved or working towards higher education qualification (Diploma, Degree in Risk & Assurance)
  • NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) Diploma
  • General experience within health and safety or Water/ Engineering/ Waste
  • Essential – good communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Knowledge of change management, strategy and compliance management.
  • High level of negotiation and persuasion skills required
