Job Description

As a DevOps Platform Engineer, you’ll be helping to engineering the next generation Streaming & Real-Time Analytic platforms at Allstate.    

As a new Quantum capability, this is an exciting opportunity to innovate and live into the ATSV2.0 values in an emerging and rapidly developing discipline.

Responsibilities include (but aren’t limited to):

  • Collaborate with the team to engineer new capabilities and enhance existing platforms.
  • Support highly available platforms that underpin critical business processes.
  • Maintain a foundational understanding of analytic methodologies.
  • Keep up with current technology trends in the Big Data, Analytics and Streaming space.

Essential Criteria

  • Must be an EU citizen or possess a current UK Tier 1 Visa or Tier 2 visa and eligible to take up full time, permanent employment. EU candidates must also demonstrate they are eligible to take up UK employment post-Brexit.
  • 2+ Years of experience in relevant technologies
  • Foundational UNIX/Linux skills.
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following:  Java, Scala, Python.
  • Working knowledge of Jenkins, Ansible, Shell script, CI-CD methodologies.
  • High level understanding of JSON, YAML, XML etc.
  • Foundational knowledge of SQL.

Desirable Criteria

  • Kafka.
  • Big data / analytics platforms.
  • Java, Scala, Python, PHP.
  • Big data frameworks e.g. Flink, Spark, Kafka Streams.
  • Solution Engineering.
  • Docker, Kubernates, Cloud Foundry.
  • Working Knowledge of AWS Cloud.
  • Database administration (Relational or NoSQL).
  • Advanced SQL.
  • Visualization.
  • Integration / Tibco / ETL.
  • Design and operation of highly available platforms.
  • Knowledge of a broad range of technologies.
