Job Description

The Automation and Orchestration team has an opening for a Team Anchor (Lead Engineer) on one of its XP teams based in the CompoZed Lab in Belfast. The Automation and Orchestration teams help optimize and modernize Allstate process and systems by providing new cloud ready solutions to existing activities.

The successful candidate will work as part of a Full Stack development team leveraging a focused product mindset and XP development practices, they will provide solutions in Java, the Spring Framework, HTML5, CSS as well as extensive use of JavaScript (primarily Node.JS, ReactJS).

The Automation and Orchestration team are focused on delivering value quickly and moving on to new problem domains, so all team members will get experience of the full product lifecycle on a regular basis. As the team anchor experience in providing technical leadership in their current or in a previous role is essential as the successful candidate will be responsible for the following on each product they undertake:

Technical strategy and design to fulfil the product goals

Apply best practice design principles including SOLID and 12-factor to all deliverables

Safeguarding XP engineering disciplines, specifically TDD, pairing and rotation

Support the product manager in stakeholder discussions, story definition and backlog prioritization

Coaching other engineering team members in line with industry and methodology best practices

Ensuring ongoing alignment to Target State Architecture guidelines as they evolve

Essential Criteria

  • Must be an EU citizen or possess a current UK Tier 1 Visa or Tier 2 visa and eligible to take up full time, permanent employment. EU candidates must also demonstrate they are eligible to take up UK employment post-Brexit.
  • Have at least 5 years I.T. experience
  • Have at least 18 months’ experience in Java/Spring and/or ReactJS
  • Be able to demonstrate a passion for learning and learning agility; and
  • Excellent communications skills.
