£36,812 – £40,473 (under review)

Background:

The Northern Ireland Commissioner for Children and Young People (NICCY) was established under legislation (Commissioner for Children and Young People [Northern Ireland] Order 2003), to provide an independent voice to promote and protect the rights of children and young people in Northern Ireland and to represent their interests.

Job Purpose:

The successful applicant will report to the Chief Executive.  The purpose of this role is to support and assist the Chief Executive with the smooth running of the legal department. The post holder will be responsible for the management of casework and line management of other team members on a day to day basis and support the wider role of legal functions in the work of NICCY and the legislative basis for same. In addition, the post holder will have an understanding of budgetary constraints. As Senior Legal & Investigations Officer, they will also be expected to undertake any other duties as required of the post.

Salary

The salary for the post will be within the range £36,812 – £40,473 (under review) within which pay progression will be determined by performance. The starting salary offered will be the minimum of the scale.

Annual Leave

In addition to the usual 12 days public and privilege holidays, you will enjoy an annual leave allowance of 25 days rising to 30 days after 5 years satisfactory service.

Working Hours

The normal conditioned hours of work are 37 hours per week excluding meal breaks, Monday to Friday. On occasions the duties may include some evening and weekend working. NICCY operates a flexi working system.
