Ref: 19/107767

School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences

Queen’s University Belfast is one of the prestigious Russell Group of UK research-intensive universities in the UK and Ireland, combining excellence in research and education with a student centred ethos, for our 24,000 students and 4,200 staff, funded through an annual turnover of some £300m.  As a driver of innovation and talent, based on excellence and global strategic partnerships, we offer generous employment terms and underpinned by excellent lifestyle benefits including opportunities for family friendly working and support for wellbeing.

The School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences has over 560 staff and over 2000 students.

The University has invested more than £100 million in research and teaching infrastructure across the Health Sciences and Royal Victoria Hospital Campuses, and will invest a further £350m in buildings and facilities across the University over the next ten years to support the University’s Vision 2020.

By providing high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate training in Medicine, Dentistry and a range of Biomedical Science subjects, the School can and has delivered life-changing quality experiences to our students. Most importantly, this University recognises that knowledge knows no boundaries, and Queen’s is competing increasingly strongly in the global higher education market place.  The Centre for Biomedical Sciences Education sits within the School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences.  The teaching staff within the Centre comprises enthusiastic teachers with world-class research in the biomedical sciences.

As an employee within the School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences in Queen’s University, you are part of a continuum, which has survived successfully for more than one hundred and seventy years.

The School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences was awarded the Silver Renewal Athena SWAN award in September 2016, which is valid for 3 years to November 2019.

Our five core values – Integrity, Connected, Ambition, Respect, Excellence – are shared by our staff and students, representing the expectations we have for ourselves and each other, guiding our day-to-day decisions and the way we behave as individuals in an international organisation.

This is a full time post available for three years

You will provide specialist project management to the Curriculum Review Executive Group (CREG) and Curriculum Review Operational Group for the development and implementation of the new 5-year undergraduate medical curriculum.

You will manage multiple project streams and will work closely with key internal and external stakeholders including key personnel in the relevant Health Trusts and other external bodies.

It is currently envisaged that there will be a phased roll-out of the new curriculum year on year beginning with first year in September 2020.  You will be responsible for developing detailed plans and communication to ensure that all milestones are met, that relevant course materials and information is available for students and staff and that students and clinicians are supported through the changes to the curriculum.

The successful candidate must have:

  • A University Degree or equivalent
  • At least three years’ relevant experience in a Project or Programme Manager/Coordinator role to include:
  • – Planning and delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • – Stakeholder/partner management and programme reporting.
  • – Leading multi-disciplinary teams and managing people.
  • – Using formal project management techniques to deliver successful projects.
