As part of our continued growth and expansion, we are currently recruiting in conjunction with the Co-Innovate programme for a manufacturing process engineer to join our team on a 12 month basis with potential to becoming a full time permanent position.

About the Job:

Reporting directly to the Engineering manager, the role of the manufacturing process engineer is a critical position within Northern Hydraulics Ltd. The role will involve establishing the use of quantitative measures such as Statistical Process Controls within a precision metal cutting and fabrication environment. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to continual improvement of the business by using data collected to make recommendations on areas of improvement helping to minimise non-productive time on machine centres and balancing process times to ensure maximum utilisation of all assets. They will implement process monitoring using quality control data and develop a model that accurately simulates current production flow and use this in conjunction with the production manager and engineering team to conduct scenario analysis as input to the company’s future manufacturing e-technology road map.

Essential Criteria:

  • 3rd level education in manufacturing engineering / quality engineering discipline
  • Proficient in process modelling & analytics
  • Proficient in statistical control processes
  • Experience in project management, following an agreed project timetable and deliverables
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to drive change and coach others
  • Understanding of 5Y /8D root cause analysis methods
  • Eligibility to work in the UK 

Desirable Criteria: 

  • Understanding of lean manufacturing
  • Experience in extracting / manipulating MRP / ERP data
  • Understanding of CNC turning / milling / welding processes
