DESCRIPTION

Excellent opportunity for Dispensing Optician or experienced Dispensing Assistant to support and assist the owner and other staff with the general running and future development of the optical practice. McGonigle Opticians is a busy practice and we are looking for a talented individual to assist the owner with maximising the great potential of our comprehensive dispensing services.

JOB TITLE: Dispensing Optician or experienced Dispensing Assistant

RESPONSIBLE TO: Practice Optometrist (Maureen McGonigle)

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Supporting and assisting the owner and other staff with the general running of the optical practice in the following areas:
  • Providing a comprehensive dispensing service to include spectacle frames, lenses, sunglasses and sports eyewear with a high focus on excellent customer care
  • Assisting patients with contact lens trials and fitting contact lenses (if qualified)
  • Assisting with training of other staff and problem solving
  • Stock control/dealing with suppliers and sales representatives
  • Maintaining excellent practice appearance, window display and marketing of the practice
  • Administrative/Reception/Telephone duties and payment handling
  • Undertake all other reasonable duties that may be requested by the owner, as and when required

  • Willingness to develop own role and be committed long term to the success of the entire practice
  • Smart appearance at all times.
  • Non smoker

Hours:  Full or part time (minimum 25 hrs) considered                                 

Normal weekday opening hours are between 9-6.00pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Full or part time positions will both include regular weekday afternoons, at least one late night (until 8.30pm) and Saturdays. Wages: Dependent on experience/qualifications, will be commensurate with Northern Ireland average
