Positive Futures is Northern Ireland’s leading learning disability, acquired brain injury and autistic spectrum condition charity. We employ around 600 people in NI and ROI.

  We have the following vacancies in our Bangor head office:


Assistant Accountant

37.5 hours per week

£24,500 – £28,500


You will assist the Financial Controller to manage and develop the Finance Department and ensure that all activities and functions of the Department are aligned with organisational priorities in order to deliver our Mission




Essential Criteria


In order to be shortlisted for the position, you must show that you have:




1. An accounting technician qualification (or equivalent) with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role in the Finance Department of an organisation with a turnover of at least GBP 250,000
Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a similar role in the Finance Department of an organisation with a turnover of at least GBP 250,000


2. Minimum of 2 years’ experience of:
a. managing staff, to include objective setting and appraisal
b. preparing financial reports
c. assisting in preparing management accounts
d. contributing to external audit processes


3. Advanced level of competence using Microsoft Excel


4. Ability to travel independently. Positive Futures defines this as being a car driver and holder of a clean driving licence or having access to a form of transport which will permit the applicant to meet the demands of the post*

Desirable Criteria:




* Knowledge of legislation and regulation relevant to organisations in the charity and social care sector
* Experience of working in a charitable organisation’s Finance Department
* Knowledge or accounts experience working in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland
