Exciting opportunity for a Construction graduate to work on a collaborative project with OHMG and Southern Regional College (SRC) for a 2-year post. The post-holder will play a key role in driving the partnership project, with the aim of implementing cloud and field technology within the Company.


POST:          TRAINEE BIM MANAGER (at OHMG Construction Ltd)

                     (Working under the Knowledge Transfer Partnership)


                    (This position may become permanent with OHMG without further advertisement)


SALARY:      £24,657 PER ANNUM

                    (Increasing to £25,463 after successful completion of Appraisal review)


(There will be a requirement to travel to OHMG Client sites and Southern Regional College, Newry)





An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Construction / IT graduate to work on a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) collaborative project with OHMG Construction and Southern Regional College (SRC) for a 2-year post. 

Working directly with the Company partner (OHMG Construction Ltd), the post-holder will play a key role in driving the partnership project, with the aim of implementing cloud and field technology within the Company. The post-holder will be at the heart of an innovative project at the cutting edge of digital construction with a challenging goal of delivering “zero-defects” buildings.


OHMG Construction Ltd is an established contractor with over 45 years’ experience in delivering complex construction projects in the UK and Ireland. They have an integrated management system accredited to ISO 9001; ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 to help deliver quality contracts safely, on time and within budget. 

They are recognised as an industry leader in sustainability and construction excellence and are currently delivering a significant BIM Level 2 project in Northern Ireland. This has introduced the Company to digital construction technologies that have their foundation in Building Information Modelling (BIM).

OHMG is committed to achieving cost efficient, ‘zero defects’ buildings utilising cloud and field technologies and has secured funding from InnovateUK to take this project forward in partnership with Southern Regional College, under the Knowledge Transfer Partnership programme. This project is a strategic step for OHMG to help establish the company as a global leader in delivering “zero defects” buildings.


Under the supervision and mentorship of the Company and Academic Supervisors, the Associate will be required to deliver the following key stages of the KTP Program:

  • Project Stage 1 – Definition of the Problem
  • Project Stage 2 – Research solutions and technology (Development of the Solution / Pilot Project)
  • Project Stage 3 – Readiness Assessment and Company Gap Analysis for proposed Solution
  • Project Stage 4 – Project Execution Plan incorporating a Roadmap and Action Plan (Solution)
  • Project Stage 5 – Implement and embedding the proposed solution within the Company
  • Project Stage 6 – Feedback and Closeout

Eligibility Criteria


Essential Criteria

1. (a) A minimum of a Level 5 qualification or Higher in a Construction related subject area obtained within the last five years (i.e. Foundation Degree / Degree in Construction Management, Architectural, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering)


(b) A minimum of a Level 5 qualification or higher in IT obtained within the last five years and a keen interest in the construction industry, software aided design and Building Information Modelling (BIM).

2. A pass grade at GCSE Level in English Language or Essential Skills Level 2 in Literacy or an equivalent qualification.

3. A pass grade at GCSE Level in Mathematics or Essential Skills Level 2 in Numeracy or NICATS Access Maths Modules or an equivalent qualification.

4. Demonstrable knowledge of 2D CAD programming systems

Desirable Criteria

5. Demonstrable knowledge of Building Information Modelling (BIM)

6. Knowledge of programming techniques used within Construction

Other Essential Requirement:   

A full current driving licence which enables you to drive in Northern Ireland, and access to a car for official business purposes. (Please refer to the General section in the application pack for further information).
