TECHNICAL SALES MANAGER

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Technical Sales Manager will be part of the senior management team, reporting to the Managing Director. The successful candidate will also be required to share/cover other roles, as required.

By understanding all the ETI processes, the successful candidate will have the necessary skills, experience and attributes to quickly pick up and perform the requirements above. Full training will be provided.

LOCATION

The location will be at the offices of Energy Trading Ireland in Dundonald, or within 5-mile radius.

WORKING HOURS

This will generally be 0900-1700Hrs Mon-Fri, but occasionally you may have to work outside these hours as required by the business. There will be some flexibility in the arrangements.

The responsibilities and requirements of the job are listed below:

1.Technical Sales Skills:

The successful candidate will be required to possess the following:

a) Possess relevant engineering qualifications, knowledge and experience.

b) Have a 10-year proven track record in the area of technical sales.

c) Demonstrate ability to sell and close contracts.

d) Manage customers to ensure contract retention as well as developing new customer contracts.

e) Demonstrate understanding of DSU, DS3 and Power Generation technologies.      

f) Understanding of SCADA and site electrical works.

g) Demonstrate the ability to apply sound engineering principles and develop technical solutions to various site situations. For example:

I.Demonstrate how ETI could generate income from various production scenarios

II.Demonstrate knowledge of switchboards and positioning of metering CTs.

2.Analytical Skills: 

a) Demonstrate excellent analytical skills in respect of site data and be able to produce commercial proposals in a timely fashion.

b) Be able to understand the relevant electricity markets and be able to trade as required.

c) Be proficient in use of MS Excel.  

3.Communications Skills

a) Demonstrate excellent communications skills both in dealing with ETI staff, clients, contractors and other agencies ETI deals with in the course of its business.

b) Be able to sell DSU, DS3, Energy Management and other services to potential clients.

c) Ability to communicate the technical and commercial aspects of the job with clients.

d) The Technical Sales Manager will manage a sales pipeline, keeping colleagues abreast of the job status, ensuring Engineering, SCADA, Market applications and testing deadlines are met.

e) Communicating with customers to ensure they fully understand the contractual implications involved in provision of DSU, DS3 and other services, as well as testing requirements.

f) Good interpersonal skills are essential and ability to adapt.

g) Report writing using MS Word

h) Use of MS PowerPoint for delivery of sales pitch/presentation. 

4.Commercial Skills 

a) The successful candidate will have a full understanding of ETI’s commercial aspects.

b) Ability to recognise commercial opportunities from:

I. trading existing infrastructure or processes

II.increased trading income by adding generation, or other assets, possibly requiring capital expenditure.

c) Ability to research and secure new business opportunities e.g. energy management, procurement, generation etc.

5.Travel

The nature of the job will require the successful applicant to travel throughout both N. Ireland and Ireland. Access to your own car, ability to drive and ‘clean’ driver’s licence is therefore essential.

6.Availability

Trading at Energy Trading Ireland is ongoing 24/7. While this is generally looked after by the control room, there are occasionally times when problems may occur that requires urgent attention. As this is a key management role, ETI would expect the Technical Sales Manager to be available in times of emergency.

7.Any other tasks as required by the Managing Director

Salary Range: £40,000 – £50,000 per annum
