About the role
ICO’s Belfast office aims to make a positive difference to information rights and plays an important role in influencing important stakeholders in Northern Ireland. It does this by writing guidance, providing training and producing clear and consistent lines and advice on the legislation regulated by the ICO. Our senior policy officers play a vital role putting all this into practice and, with information rights becoming even more important than before following the strengthening of our data protection laws, they are never far away from the key information rights issues of the day.

Degree educated or equivalent, you will have a strong interest in the information rights landscape. Whilst knowledge of information rights laws would be desirable we would also welcome applications from those who can demonstrate experience of applying similarly complex legislation and the ability to adapt quickly.
Work can include leading day to day engagement with important stakeholders, developing the ICO’s policy positions, producing influential guidance and undertaking projects aimed at developing our information rights laws further. You will need to get to the heart of complex issues at pace developing practical outcomes. You will need to be a clear and confident communicator both with the written and spoken word.
These full time posts (one permanent, one fixed term) are based in our Belfast office but on occasion you may be required to travel throughout Northern Ireland and to our other Regional Offices or our Head Office in Wilmslow, Cheshire. Therefore, your ability to travel and willingness to work outside of normal office hours is essential.
