Becoming a Senior Desktop Engineer with Capita IT & Networks:

This role will involve assisting the Desktop Services Delivery Manager in leading a team of Desktop Engineers who provide key functions to a number of our enterprise managed service clients. The functions include; remote and desk side resolution of desktop incidents, service requests, change requests and problems. You will also be responsible for the management and maintenance of Desktop enterprise management tools and the design and deployment of new desktop images and applications.

We are looking for a team player, but also able to demonstrate self-initiative and lead on technical tasks when required. What you will do:

  • Act as a point of hierarchical technical escalation – coordinating technical and hierarchical escalation to other technical teams / 3rd parties / management.
  • Ownership and continued improvement of technical solutions for enterprise toolsets covering Microsoft SCCM, Endpoint Protection including Anti-Virus and Device Control.
  • Provide cover for Desktop Service Delivery Manager in their absence.
  • Update Desktop Service Delivery Manager of issues of operational and resource significance.
  • Engage in Knowledge sharing activities to enhance both your own capability and the capabilities of others involved in the support of customers.
  • Ensure delivery of activities within contractual SLAs.
  • Perform QA of IPK, Change Request and Statement of Work content ensuring these are recorded appropriately and accurately to allow other technical teams to attain rapid resolution
  • Interact with members of other technical teams to ensure customer issues are dealt with thoroughly and effectively (Desktop Service Delivery Manager and Applications Hosting Manager and Service Delivery Managers)
  • Liaise with customers and end users as appropriate to ensure any issues or queries are resolved promptly and effectively.

About you:

  • Experience in implementation, use and support of desktop applications and enterprise desktop management toolsets, particularly SCCM 2012 r2
  • Experience of packaging and deploying software applications and updates to enterprise managed desktop estates.
  • Experience of creation, deployment and support of desktop images to enterprise managed desktop estates.
  • Experience of managing and maintaining enterprise Anti-Virus solutions, particularly Symantec Endpoint Protection.
  • Experience of handling escalations, complaints and solving problems including major incidents and high priority calls.
  • 2 to 3 years working in a Senior Desktop Technical Role.
