Project Manager £40,071 pa Fixed Term f/t (37.5 hrs pw for 24 mo)

We are looking for a Project Manager and leader who has the flair for managing the constraints and dependencies of multi-faceted projects which seek to address conservation, visitor experience and commercial opportunities whilst working within a tightly controlled financial model.  It will be a challenge, but for the right person, it will be a brilliant opportunity to prove what you can do; as well as stretch and learn.

The Project Manager will deliver on projects at the North Coast including the transformation of the Downhill and Cushendun Properties.  All of the projects have a range of complexities which need to be addressed to deliver a high quality visitor experience whilst ensuring the protection of Northern Ireland’s iconic landscapes.

What you’ll be doing


Whilst our vision for the future is clear, we have more to do to establish how to reach it and the ways of working which we need to embed within the property and project teams, to achieve it.  It will be your role to lead and manage the next stages of developing and delivering these large projects; alongside a General Manager and highly engaged Project Board. These projects will be a key part of the longer term strategy at the Properties and as such you will assist the General Manager its formation and delivery.

Using the National Trust Project Management Framework, you’ll need to draw on your experience of leading and managing inter-dependencies and risks.

With several areas of activity, you will need to draw on your experience of leading and managing multiple work streams in order to co-ordinate teams effectively, helping them keep track of deadlines, find the most favourable option to complete the task and ensuring this is delivered within budget.  As you monitor the success of your activities, you’ll take overall responsibility for project budgets, financial reporting and governance.

You’ll achieve all of this through collaborative working and great information sharing across the multi-disciplinary team.  Working with stakeholders both internally and externally (including local community, statutory bodies and funders) you’ll influence where necessary to ensure results are achieved.

Who we’re looking for


To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Experience in both strategy and operations, either as a business consultant or as a manager in an organisation; experience of research and analysis of data to inform concepts.
  • Evidence of working within commercial environments, turning concepts into business cases and feasible projects to see a financial return that align with wider strategies.
  •  A track record of delivering business and project outcomes in a range of environments.
  • Experience in delivery of a diverse project portfolio.
  •  Experience in managing and engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in working within delegated financial frameworks, managing budgets to control costs, and procuring and managing services.
  •  Experience of research and data analysis used to inform project concepts and business cases; overseeing these to delivery and project close.
  • Experience of adapting to and implementing new processes and ways of working.
