Working to the Country Head of Policy & Advocacy, the Country Head of Land & Sea Policy will oversee policy development for our agriculture and marine work in country, ensuring it is advocated in a timely and impactful way to decision makers and key stakeholders.

As a senior member of the NI Policy and Advocacy Team, the post holder will inform country strategy and RSPB’s policy development in the areas of their expertise, particularly contributing country context and using country influencing networks.

The postholder will work with their counterparts in the other countries of the UK to provide oversight of RSPB’s programmes for agriculture (and other land uses as appropriate) and marine. Prioritising the critical interventions required to enable nature’s recovery through relevant policy, advocacy and campaigning interventions and aligning the available resources from across the UK to greatest impact will be important aspect of this work.

The Head of Land and Sea in NI will work with advocates to deliver an advocacy programme for their work area with ministers, senior officials in government and public bodies, key influencers in public life, corporates, the media and partnerships/networks, ensuring they secure support from their line manager and Country Director to achieve success.

This role will also work closely with Area Managers, conservation officers, communications and campaigns staff in country as well as those in HQ, to support the development of our campaigning approach within agriculture and marine policy to develop civil society voices for nature that can increase the impact of our more traditional policy interventions and amplify the call for action on nature’s recovery in the political sphere.

This role is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. You will be asked to declare unspent convictions and cautions at offer of employment stage.
