 Job Description

We are currently seeking an individual who has the desire to work as an Apprentice Printer and who is prepared to undertake a training programme with the view of becoming a qualified Lithographic Printer.

Job Purpose

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced printers to gain the skill set required to become a fully competent Litho Printer.  On the job training will be provided whilst the individual works towards BPIF and NVQ Level 3 Qualifications and they will be given exposure to all aspects of the business to better understand pre & post press requirements.

 

The apprentice will be trained to:

  • Operate and maintain a six colour lithographic print press

  • Prepare machines, follow Line Clearance procedures and complete all relevant documentation

  • To learn the process of Colour Management to achieve high quality output

  • To use relevant print software and other application packages

  • Adhere to Key Performance Indicator (KPI’s)

  • To learn ink formulation & press chemistry

  • To create, edit and adjust press files in the absence of digital files

  • To keep work area clean and tidy ensuring that the highest standards of housekeeping are always maintained

  • To identify and report problems or deviations from standards

  • To ensure jobs are completed within colour tolerance

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
