Application Developer

Hughes Insurance are currently recruiting for an experienced Application Developer to join our Development Team based in Newtownards.

We have a growing portfolio of applications and technology solutions to maintain and support future growth in line with strategic plans, including the evolution of our eCommerce channel, the implementation of a new brokerage platform, and the introduction of new products and services.

The Application Developer role is a key role within the IT Development team, for developing technical specifications and conducting application development in support of these initiatives.

This appointment will act as the key technical authority to project implementation teams as we progress our strategy.

We expect the successful candidate will have the following experience: 

  • 3+ years’ experience in a senior development role
  • 3+ years’ experience working with at least one of the following: VB/VB.NET, ASP.Net, Visual Studio, XML, C# (vb preferable)
  • 3+ years’ experience designing, building and implementing winform applications / web applications
  • Experience working with APIs, developing and consuming REST / SOAP based services
  • Extensive SQL Server product knowledge, including SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and ability to write and understand complex SQL code
  • Solid understanding and working knowledge of Object Oriented Design Principles
