An integral role within the dynamic UK Finance function and be responsible for the consolidation and production of Retail UK MI across BOI UK Finance and Retail UK. The role holder will need to work collaboratively across the BOIUK Finance function


The Finance & Accounting Division is made up of a number of core finance teams both at business unit and Group level. We perform a key management and control function in ensuring all Group financial and management reporting processes are appropriately governed. The Finance Division has overall responsibility for driving the Group budgeting and forecasting process, developing Group-focused financial insight and analysis and delivering the Group’s statutory, regulatory and external reporting. We do this through collaborative business partnering in each of the Divisions and with centralised Finance shared / specialist services.

Description of business unit

The Decision Support team is responsible for the production and analysis of monthly financial performance reporting to the Retail UK Leadership team, along with analysis of key drivers of financial metrics, product analysis and support to the Retail UK Business Partners. The team is also responsible for communicating the Retail UK divisional results with key stakeholders such as Group Performance & Analysis and the Group Executive Committee.

Purpose of the Role

The role holder will play an integral role within the dynamic UK Finance function and be responsible for the consolidation and production of Retail UK MI across BOI UK Finance and Retail UK. The role holder will need to work collaboratively across the BOIUK Finance function.

The role holder will have the opportunity to interact with a broad spectrum of colleagues across the Bank of Ireland Group.

Key Accountabilities

  • Preparation of various Retail UK management reports.
  • The consolidation of information from Financial Control, Business Partners and Forecasting teams. Working with the above teams to ensure that MI is continually optimised and best practices are used.
  • Implementing appropriate controls to ensure all data is consistent and accurate.
  • Reconciliation of forecast inputs from various sources into a consolidated UK view.
  • Drafting of papers for the UK Board and various committees to support effective decision making.
  • Adherence to deadlines at all times.
  • Analysis and identification of key trends in both actual and forecast data.

To join the recently formed Decision Support team in the UK. The successful candidate will be in a position to develop relationships across the BOI Group Finance function, gain exposure to all the different businesses within Retail UK, position themselves within the finance world for opportunities across a broad range of teams and contribute towards and enable change and transformation within UK finance function.

 

Essential Qualifications

 

  • Recently qualified accountant or part qualified accountant with extensive experience gained within banking industry.

 

Essential Skills & Experience

 

  • Demonstrated Financial & Analytical skills with an ability to clearly and concisely summarise large volumes of data for reporting purposes, both actuals and forecast. Capable of positively influencing others, communicating effectively and working collaboratively as part of the UK Finance team.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of technical accounting application and financial statements.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong IT skills particularly with regard to data analysis (Excel) & presentation (Powerpoint and Word)
  • Ability to cultivate effective working relationships with colleagues from various functional areas to collectively develop and deliver robust solutions for various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Use of initiative and able to take a proactive approach to achieve success.
