Trainee Service Advisor

Dennison Commercials Ltd is the sole Volvo Truck & Bus dealer and the leading provider of heavy commercial vehicles in Northern Ireland. We are currently recruiting a Trainee Service Advisor to join our expanding team at our Coleraine Dealerpoint.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a person to grow your career with an extremely successful business and to develop your skillset by learning and working alongside our established Customer Service department.  Whilst this is an entry-level position, there are very real prospects for career progression within 12-18 months.

Whilst some ‘customer-facing’ service reception back-up support will be required, such as overflow incoming telephone calls, addressing waiting customers at reception desk and liaising with workshop personnel;

Initially the successful candidate will carry out administration duties such as the following:

  • Processing, quality checking and closing out workshop job cards
  • Assisting with invoicing
  • Monitoring progress of vehicles in workshop and informing customers when jobs are completed
  • Assisting with booking PSV appointments
  • Other general administration, such as running various daily, weekly and monthly reports, scanning and filing paperwork, record archiving and general word processing

By assisting the existing Customer Service team in the above you will gain knowledge and experience, including learning the Genuine Volvo Service process.  You will also create and develop relationships internally at Dennisons, as well as build an understanding of our customer base, the commercial vehicle industry and the Volvo product.

Once the relevant training and experience has been established, it is anticipated that the role will develop into a full customer-facing role, working within the Coleraine depot team to ensure the smooth running of the aftermarket administration and customer processes.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate must be able to provide proof of, or demonstrate prior experience of, the following:

  • Minimum of GCSE English and Maths, grade A-C
  • An excellent level of computer literacy is essential, a qualification in ICT would be desirable but is not essential
  • Previous administration experience working within a business environment would be highly desirable
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written) at all levels, both internally and externally, in a professional manner (must be confident with telephone communication)
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload efficiently
  • Although not essential, some existing mechanical knowledge would be advantageous or a strong desire to learn and work within the commercial vehicle industry.
