Head of Systems Development
The appointee will be based at the Bangor Campus but will be required to be available for work at any of the college sites as required including other college sites and businesses throughout Northern Ireland.
Total hours of work
36 per week. However, the post holder will be required to adopt a flexible approach (including evening work) and to devote such time as may be required by the exigencies of the service.
Monday to Thursday 8.45 am to 5.00 pm and Friday 8.45 am to 3.30 pm. Hours may vary to suit the requirements of the post from time to time.
To assist the Head of Systems Development in the management with the day to day management of departmental workload, standardisation, quality control & Training.
In addition, the post will provide the technical expertise in developing the College’s ICT Information & Learning Systems. The systems developer will be required work on a broad scope of projects and with a variety of different technologies.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Assist the Head of Systems Development in the creation of system specification documentation & project plans.
2.Collaborate with developers on the creation of specifications, production documentation & helpdesk materials
3.Consult with users to identify current operating procedures and to clarify objectives
4.Contribute to code reviews and technical design/specifications
5.Create storyboards/prototype designs for new systems and changes to existing systems.
6.To assess the impact of change requests received during the development process and advise the Head of Systems Development of the ramifications.
7.To participate in the evaluation of new technologies and discussion of its potential strategic application.
