The Role:

We’re looking for a SENIOR ASSOCIATE to join us in our BELFAST OFFICE. As a member of our team, you’ll be responsible for supporting our clients business by drafting and negotiating a wide range of contracts as part of a wider general support service to the client’s contracts management and in-house legal teams.

Responsibilities:

Draft and negotiate a wide range of contracts including content development contracts, professional and consulting contracts, recruitment services contracts, software development contracts, licensing contracts, other IP/IT contracts and general commercial contracts
Handle some of the more complex requests on the team
Help support other members of the team who are handling more complex requests
Adhere to delivery processes and commitments
Input and manage data on AMS and client systems and keep them up-to-date
Help develop contract templates, playbooks and other tools for use by the team
Remain up-to-date on legal and other relevant developments
Assist with continuously improving our service to the client and adding value
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Help coach and mentor more junior team members
Act as an escalation point on issues for more junior team members
Coordinate the review of work done by other team members from a Quality Control (QC) perspective as required
Take on such leadership duties as required

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

Legally qualified in Northern Ireland / England and Wales
Legally eligible to work in the United Kingdom
A minimum of 3 years’ experience of independently drafting and negotiating commercial contracts within a law firm, professional services, as part of an in-house legal team or within Axiom
Excellent attention to detail
Operates independently, with no supervision
Daily client-facing experience
Strong commercial awareness, working directly with senior business managers
The legal skills to support our client within appropriate guidelines
High-impact written and verbal communication and presentation skills
Ability to work well in a team environment
Ability to handle competing priorities
Very strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite – especially Word

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

Solid IP/IT experience including independently drafting and negotiating complex technology related commercial contracts
Client relationship management
Coaching and mentoring more junior team members
Managing a team
Working with a recognised matter management system as part of daily routine

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

As a member of an ISO Compliant center, the candidate will be required to follow the policies and procedures on Information Security Management System in place at the Centre of Excellence and globally at AMS. As a member of the AMS team, the applicant will have access to various company and client assets and will be required to maintain the level of security as identified for each asset.
