NPD Technologist / Product Developer


Job Role:

  • Conduct weekly development meetings with all departments to communicate NPD Projects within the business
  • To assist in the creation of information to support product presentations including technical information such as product submission sheets, theoretical nutritional info and calorie trackers
  • Adhere to, gather, analyse and maintain legal and safety criteria to assist in the development of safe products of high quality
  • Responsible for co-ordinating the transfer of new products from the development stage to the handover to the factory
  • Responsible for leading and assisting in customer presentations and product submissions, ensuring samples are created to consistent high standards and meet customer deadlines
  • Communicate regularly with suppliers on NPD issues and deal with any queries
  • Responsible for gathering product costing information and assisting with the development of packaging
  • Ensure Critical Paths are generated at concepts and ensuring targets are met
  • Create NPD Information documents for customer products
  • Assist NPD Manager in achieving budget goals for the department
  • Interpret development briefs & create new recipes in line with customer expectations and company strategy
  • Keep an Awareness of food trends and market information affecting consumer choice to enable input into development of recipe concepts

Requirements:

  • Third level qualification in a relevant discipline combined with an excellent practical understanding of the NPD function
  • Previous experience of red meat is desirable and a minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confident approach with the ability to carry out presentations
  • Good computer skills
  • Able to work as part of a team combined with the ability to manage, set and adjust your priorities
  • A passion for food & product development
  • Willing to work outside normal hours to assist with the completion of customer briefs
  • Willingness to progress and develop your skills
  • Want to make a difference and resilience to drive a result
  • Good organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Must be willing to travel as required
