POST: LECTURER IN FABRICATION AND WELDING

HOURS: FULL TIME
SALARY: POINTS 1-5 – £22,851 (POINT 1 – MINIMUM POINT), £26,274 (POINT 2), £28,476 (POINT 3), £30,842 (POINT 4), £33,129 (POINT 5, MAXIMUM POINT)
Placement on the salary scale upon appointment is to the minimum point, incremental credit is awarded to holders of an approved university degree with honours at 2:1 level or higher (1 increment), and holders of a teaching qualification recognised to teach in the Northern Ireland Further Education Sector (1 increment). Progression to the maximum point is by way of annual increment. This position has the potential to attract a salary of up to £37,142 per annum subject to the award of Threshold (£2,640) and Deane payments (£1,373).

REPORTS TO: DEPUTY HEAD OF SCHOOL ENGINEERING AND CONSTRUCTION
Provide quality teaching and learning opportunities within the specific areas outlined in the post in order to maximise the potential of every student and to undertake non-lecturing duties as appropriate.
1 A minimum of a Level 3 qualification (or higher) in Fabrication and Welding or a relevant subject area* AND three years (within the last seven years) relevant industrial, teaching or training experience (one of which must be post qualification experience).
A minimum of a Degree (or higher) in Engineering or a relevant subject area**
2. A pass grade at GCSE Level in English Language or Essential Skills Level 2 in Literacy or an equivalent qualification.
3. A pass grade at GCSE Level in Mathematics or Essential Skills Level 2 in Numeracy or NICATS Access Maths Modules or an equivalent qualification.
*For those candidates who only hold the Level 3 in Fabrication and Welding, it is a pre-condition of appointment that you undertake and achieve a Level 5 qualification in Engineering before an offer of permanency will be considered. The College will bear the cost of this qualification however study will be undertaken within your own time.

All candidates invited to interview will be expected to complete a practical Fabrication & Welding assessment as part of the selection process.
4. Post Graduate Certificate in Further and Higher Education PGCE (FE) or equivalent qualification recognised by the Department for the Economy for teaching in Northern Ireland.
Other Essential Criteria
