Job Title: Lecturer: Health, Physical Activity and Sport  (Part-time 0.5FTE, Fixed Term until 30 June 2021)

JOB PURPOSE: The post holder will contribute to the work of this area of learning through both teaching and scholarly activity.  They will be expected to demonstrate commitment and an innovative approach to this area of work in order to enhance the University College’s profile and meet the needs of its key stakeholders.  The person appointed will be expected to make a positive contribution to achieving the goals set out in the University College’s Corporate Plan.

Reporting to: Head of Academic Area

Main Duties and Accountabilities of Lecturer

Within the terms of the contract of employment, the post holder will contribute to the work of this area of learning and the University College as required. This will include:

1. Contributing to the teaching and examining and associated administration of a range of modules across relevant undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes, including development of new modules and leading modules as required;   

2. Serving on relevant College committees such as Module/Programme Teams, Cross-College Teams, Boards of Studies Boards of Examiners;

3. Assisting in the recruitment and selection of students by, inter-alia, co-operating in the recruitment fairs and interviewing or other selection processes; 

4. Supervising, assessing and providing tutorial support to students on a range of placements; 

5. Advising individual students in professional matters and in academic matters within this area of learning; 

6. Maintaining good relations with schools, key partners and serving teachers/other professionals associated with College courses; 

7. Participating in University College appraisal processes and relevant staff development activities; 

8. Contributing to professional placement partnership activity and DMU programmes, exams invigilation and other University College activities such as Open Days as appropriate; 

9. Contributing to other College key strategies such as Continuing Professional Development, International Development strategy and/or Widening Participation strategy

10. Participating in module, programme and College-wide periodic review;  

11. Engaging in scholarly activity which may include but is not limited to the production of book, articles or conference papers; 

12. Acting as an Ambassador for the University College;   13. Complying with and promoting University College equality policies and procedures; 

14. Undertaking any other duties and responsibilities as determined by the line manager, consistent with the nature and grade of the post.
