Your new role…

Reporting to the Strategy and Architecture Manager, you will lead on the design and ongoing development of the Energia Group information and data landscape. By partnering with business leadership, and through the rationalisation of the information value chain, you will provide strategic recommendations to maximise the value of information assets via their creation, access and use. You will assure stakeholders that we are developing our data models and architecture in a safe and well governed manner and allow for fast and efficient access to data from our diverse application pool and user community. You will assist data and analytics leaders, and business and IT leadership in developing information governance processes and structures thereby advising through consultative methods, who can take what actions with what information, and under what circumstances. 

From a technical and engineering perspective, you will ensure that enterprise standards are consistently applied to allow for the successful delivery of business requirements and to simplify the realisation of future business needs. You will provide technical leadership to business, product development and support teams, collaborating on database designs and conducting solution reviews for new and existing services being developed in our hybrid cloud environment.

This is a highly collaborative role and a portion of your time will be spent engaging and collaborating with business stakeholders to understand and develop their needs. To bring the best ideas to the business you will be an active learner, keeping up to date with developments in the realms of information and data and be willing to share your learnings with the business wide community.

Main Duties:  

  • Maximise the value of information across the organisation through collaboration with the business and technical architects to understand the implications of respective architectures on the information architecture.
  • Take ownership of the architectures and strategic direction for technologies including but not limited to Oracle and Microsoft Database platforms, Oracle ADG, Microsoft Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, Streaming Data, Power BI, SQL, NoSQL, HVR as well as data management tools such as Tivoli Workload Scheduler and SSIS.
  • Define and own architecture for Data Warehouse, Master Data / Reference Data, integration for data and transaction processing.
  • Define, own and maintain patterns, policies and procedures for data definition, data architecture and data modelling.
  • Review of all project deliverables where information is derived and/or consumed.
  • Govern adherence to information architecture and processes by projects and operations.
  • Develop reference architectures, policies and standards and present to Architecture Review Board for ratification.
  • Build the enterprise conceptual and logical data models for analytics, operational and data mart structures in accordance to industry best practices.
  • Provide advice and guidance where applicable on data protection and data governance standards and their application. •
  • Maintain the assessment and inventory of the existing enterprise-level information processing environments.
  • Develop and own delivery of the strategy for information archiving.
  • Facilitating solution design workshop. Designing, writing and vetting functional specification for configuration, enhancements, new designs, interfaces and reports.
  • Host Lunch ‘n’ Learns with the business community on technical and non-technical topics on all things data related.
  • Providing support to our partner ecosystem of designers, project managers, domain architects, technical analysts/specialists on all aspects of Energia Group solution architecture.
  • Proactively use of continuous improvement techniques to better overall process and performance • Providing support and development to business process areas.

Knowledge and Experience: 

Essential

  • Solid experience of developing data strategies, standards development and implementation
  • Extensive experience of leading high- and low-level solution designs at conceptual, logical and physical levels, for distributed databases
  • Extensive experience in driving and delivering Metadata architectures and Master Data Management solutions
  • Extensive hands on experience in performing analysis and design for information management and data driven projects and using data to drive decision making
  • Experience with Visualization and reporting tools, data modelling and information profiling analysis, GDPR and data transformation
  • Experience of developing strategic roadmaps to support application development 

Desirable

  • Certifications in data architecture and modelling
  • Experience of DevOps practices and can apply these concepts in the context of data architectures, deployments and transformations
  • Experience of working with structured and unstructured data sets
  • Experience of successfully implementing architectural standards based on TOGAF 9.x
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise effectively
  • Able to demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Experience of working effectively with others to achieve team goals
  • Ability to learn new skills/tasks quickly with a high level of motivation and enthusiasm
  •  A high level of customer focus
  • Experience of delivering projects to or supporting systems for the Retail energy and utility sector
