If you have the desire and ambition to work with a business that recognises its employees as the heart of their company, then Cranswick Country Foods (Ballymena) could be the place for you. We are looking for innovative, motivated and dedicated candidates to join our team to join us in achieving our ambitious growth plans.

Details of the Vacancy

Cranswick Country Foods Ballymena are currently in search of an enthusiastic person, with an interest in building a career in food quality assurance who would be interested in undertaking a Higher Level Apprenticeship in Food and Drink Manufacture within our Technical Department at the Site.

The Higher Level Apprenticeship program will begin in September 2019 and will involve off the job training at CAFRE, Loughry College campus, in block week releases over the 3 year duration of the program.

The successful applicant will be placed in the Technical Department and will work to achieve their Foundation Degree in Food and Drink Manufacture.

The Technical Team will assign an appropriate mentor to support the successful applicant through all aspects of their training.  The Technical Team have worked closely with CAFRE to build the ‘on the job’ training plan.  This plan will:

  • enable the apprentice to gain a robust understanding of the work of the department
  • challenge the individual to take on more responsibility including exposure to customer and auditor interaction as they progress on the program.
  • The ‘on the job’ training program, also has a clear fit with the ‘off the job’ learning (delivered at Loughry College) of the degree so that the apprentice will:
  • easily see the fit between the college learning and the day to day job, and
  • apply both the college learning and the ‘on the job’ learning to find and deliver the required projects for the degree

The role may also require travel to other Cranswick sites across the UK in order to get a full understanding of the work of the Technical Department across the Company.

Entry Requirements

The entry requirements to apply for the position of Higher Level Apprentice in Technical (Higher Level Apprenticeship in Food and Drink Manufacture) are as follows:
