Barnardo’s NI are delighted to offer three internships for graduate teachers for one year.

These internships offer graduates a unique experience of working within a leading children’s charity. Interns will gain further understanding of educational under-achievement and experience of working with children and families in addressing this.

You will

  • deliver a series of educational interventions to improve attainment in Literacy and Numeracy with small groups of Key Stage 2 pupils.
  • deliver family learning sessions and provide accessible  information and activities for parents to support their involvement in their children’s learning.
  • link with parents to support children’s learning at home.
  • identify barriers to learning, including emotional well-being and assist children and parents to engage in learning and achievement.

You will be part of a dynamic team working within the collaboration THRiVE in Newtownabbey. THRiVE is a group of local parents, schools, community groups and statutory and voluntary organisations working together to help children and young people in Newtownabbey do well.
