This is an exciting opportunity for a graduate in Architectural Technology, Structural Engineering, Construction Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or other appropriate design or engineering discipline.
Quinn Building Supplies, in partnership with South West College, are seeking to recruit a graduate Production Detailer/Engineer to join their team. Quinn Building Supplies are suppliers to the construction industry through a building hardware store and have one of the largest truss manufacturing facilities in Northern Ireland. Their customer base ranges from small local building contractors to national home and commercial building contractors across the UK and Ireland, supplying products from painting and decorating supplies through to bespoke in-house manufactured feature trusses and purlins. They wish to expand into manufacture and supply of off-site modular timber framed housing to address low carbon and cost effective housing needs.
During this project you will work closely with mentors from South West College and QBS to design, develop and validate a modular building system manufactured in an automated factory environment. This new building solution will cut costs, lead times and waste while improving quality. Through this product development you will transfer architectural and product design, development, validation and manufacture skills and knowledge into Quinn while developing the company’s digital technologies in areas such as digitally assisted assembly, automation and supply chain integration.
The successful candidate will require:
Level 5 qualification in Architectural Technology, Structural, Construction Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering or similar (or expect to achieve this by July 2019).
Knowledge and experience in 2D or 3D computer aided design.
Good organisational and problem solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
KTP is one of Europe’s leading graduate recruitment programmes. High calibre graduates are employed to work on specific projects of strategic importance to companies, whilst being supported by a dedicated academic supervisor, within an academic institution, in this case the South West College. All graduates spend around 10% of their time in training and development and are offered the opportunity to gain a Diploma in Management. This project offers access to a £4,000 training budget. Although this project runs for 24 months, over 70% of Associates are offered employment by their host company on completion.
