Ulster Carpets has an exciting opportunity for a Credit Control Assistant to support the Finance & Administration Team with credit control and general office duties.

Essential Criteria:

  • 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) with Mathematics and English at Grade C or above

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Finance/Accounting environment

  • Proven experience in Credit Control

  • Good organisational skills and the ability to work on own initiative

  • IT literate to include Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel

  • Good communication skills with ability to deal with customer enquiries

  • Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise a number of work demands

  • Professional and approachable

  • Customer focused team worker

  • Ability to build relationships at all levels – both internal and external

  • Flexible approach to work with the competence to move between tasks to meet the needs of the department

  • Attention to detail


    Desirable Criteria:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in credit control

  • Previous experience using an ERP system


    Job Activities:

  • Allocate cash to customers’ accounts on a timely basis

  • Complete lodgements with the bank on a daily basis

  • Provide input prior to sales to minimise risk using credit references, pro-formas and using the order hold process

  • Pursue debtors for payment by phone, email and written requests

  • Work effectively with Sales Executives in chasing debts

  • Liaise with Contract Administrators in chasing debts where appropriate

  • Provide information to Sales Executives, Management and others in the form of reports or ad-hoc queries

  • Ensure overdue letters, reminders, copy invoices and statements are sent out in a timely fashion

  • Feedback invoicing or credit note problems identified on the ledgers to Administrators, IT and Management as appropriate

  • Provide administrative support within F&A, completing tasks such as switch board cover, post cover and hand trial dispatch

  • Any other duties as reasonably delegated
