Exciting new role at Mash Direct for an Automation Engineer Technologist.


Due to continued growth Mash Direct are looking for an exceptional Automation Engineer Technologist to reduce costs and improve quality through the automation of our end to end manufacturing processes and provide support in driving continuous improvement through process development, root cause analysis and systematic problem solving.  

The Successful Candidate will:

Carry out design, development and maintenance/repair projects. 

Drive continuous improvement projects

Troubleshoot problems and perform repairs when machines develop problems, preferably while processes continue to run. 

Equipment & tooling design, facility & equipment upgrades, and process development & refinement. 

Create and apply technology to monitor or control the production and delivery of products and services

Design, program, simulate and test automated machinery and processes in order to complete exact tasks.

Manage assigned budgets

Ensure, as part of the engineering team, that a safe, clean and tidy working environment is maintained

Comply with current workshop and site risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work

Produce ‘Point of Work Risk Assessments’ whenever necessary to ensure all potential hazards involved with specific tasks are identified and reduced/removed

Ensure that where required, all compliance documentation regarding the company Quality Management System

Troubleshoot problems and perform repairs when machines develop problems, preferably while processes continue to run. 

 

Essential Criteria:

Degree or Equivalent in Engineering with subjects in Robotics, AI or machine learning

Proven experience with:

  • Engineering in a manufacturing environment, preferably related to tooling, equipment, product, or process design
  • Fabrication, machining, manufacturing, and assembly processes
  • Process automation, PLC’s, and hands-on machining

Think critically to solve problems and be detail-oriented so they can follow complex instructions

Hands-on and capable of providing innovative and practical solutions to problems

Continuous improvement driven attitude

Work with a flexible, well organised and logical approach to problem solving

Have a willingness to learn and the ability to work as part of a team or unsupervised

Be a good communicator, have good time management and a can-do attitude

Be Physically fit to perform the role – able to operate welding equipment, lift, climb and stand without any problem

Advanced IT skills including AutoCAD

 

Desirable Requirements:

Skilled in utilising lean tools and techniques and developing a continuous Improvement culture

Experience with WorkPal

Electrical City & Guilds, BTEC or NVQ Qualification

Proven experience with

  • Operational plant and control systems
  • Interpreting Electrical Drawings, fault finding from schematic drawings and working with inverter drives
  • Relay Logic and PLCs
  • Calibration and maintenance of front-line instrumentation
  • Meeting health & safety requirements
