Exciting opportunity for a Assistant Accountant to join its expanding team.


Alternative Heat Ltd specializes in the design, supply, Installation and maintenance of a wide range of commercial heating solutions throughout the UK & Ireland. We specialise in offsite fabrication and supply a wide range of skid mounted and containerised, commercial energy centres for the oil, gas and renewable industry.

We offer a range of renewable solutions including biomass boilers, ground and air source heat pumps, solar thermal and underfloor heating for the commercial sector throughout the UK & Ireland.



Job Title:         Assistant Accountant

Contract:        Temporary – Maternity Cover

Department:  Finance

Reporting to:  Accountant, Finance Manager

Location:         Head Office, Banbridge

Salary:             Negotiable depending on experience

Closing Date:  Friday 28th June 2019

Scope of Role: This is a key role in the provision of management and financial information for Alternative Heat and Associate Companies. You will work closely with the accountant and the finance manager in the delivery of a varied portfolio of work. Full in-house training will be given.



  • Responsible for daily bank administration including bank reconciliations for company bank accounts and cash flow forecasting

  • Administration of PAYE / CIS including returns.

  • Administration of VAT including returns.

  • Monthly management accounts preparation to Trial Balance including full reconciliation of all Balance Sheet accounts

  • Financial Accounting activity including journal entries, Profit and Loss Account reconciliations and financial analysis

  • Preparation of monthly sales reports and customer profitability analysis

  • Assist in procedure development and recommend / implement process improvements

  • Preparation of government statistical returns

  • Budget administration

  • Development of company templates using advanced MS Excel formulae

  • Any other duties required to fulfil the requirements of the position.

Full/Part Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA or equivalent)


Experience & Knowledge:

Relevant experience for a minimum of 2 years in the recent past.


Abilities & Skills:

Proficient in MS Office especially MS Excel.

Ability to work under pressure to deliver on a varied portfolio of work with minimal supervision.

Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively at all levels

Excellent organisational and structured approach to work with meticulous attention to detail.

Ability to be a flexible and co-operative member of a team.
