Technical Administrator – Engineering


Permanent Role – Full Time 40 hours

Starting Salary Range £19,500 – £22,500

The role:

The Technical Administrator will ensure that key Asset Management activities are planned, programmed and reported on in a timely and efficient manner. The role will be pivotal in developing reporting systems and ensuring that activities are carried out in line with industry best practice, engineering policy and regulatory targets. The Technical Administrator will assist in the ongoing development of internal systems to support and develop engineering policies, processes and procedures.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Maintenance of registers covering internal and external ISO audit scheduling and reporting on nonconformances, opportunity for improvements and related observation
  • Completion of internal audits in relation to engineering procedures
  • Reporting of non-conformances and actions taken to ensure ongoing compliance with ISO standards
  • Ensuring site inspections are completed in line with schedules and that results are compiled and reported via internal monthly reports and the monthly QUEST forum
  • Close liaison with engineering personnel to maintain the Engineering Risk Register ensuring the continuous improvement and line of sight mandated by ISO accreditations
  • Identifying, proposing and implementing improvements in methodologies and systems to meet firmus energy’s needs and improve efficiency
  • Act as central point of contact for planned network commissioning activities, issuing authority to proceed in line with instruction from the firmus energy network controller
  • Ensuring all essential engineering equipment is maintained and relevant calibration checks made in line with manufacturer’s guidance and best practice
  • Compilation of engineering training register ensuring that all statutory requirements are met and necessary training organised, delivered and registrations kept up to date

The Individual:

The successful candidate will have previous experience in an engineering related role, and will be familiar with GIS systems within the utility sector. The will also possess excellent communication and IT skills, with the ability to prioritise workload in a busy multi-disciplined team.

Knowledge/Skills & Experience


  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in engineering related discipline or engineering administration
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written
  • IT skills, in particular with MS software including Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with GIS systems and their application within utility organisations
  • Ability to work on own initiative and to prioritise workload, in addition to being a team player
