Accountabilities

  1. Identification, co-ordination and implementation of process improvement measures.
  2. Directing, modifying, continuously improving and documenting new and existing control systems including

    Accountabilities

    1. Identification, co-ordination and implementation of process improvement measures.
    2. Directing, modifying, continuously improving and documenting new and existing control systems including robotic programs, ladder logic programs, relay logic, electric distribution, motor controls, operator interface, hydraulics and pneumatics distribution and control. ABB and Siemens research on robotic technologies to create new robotic systems or system capabilities.
    3. Coordinating between Engineering and Maintenance on existing machine control modifications to electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic and vision systems.
    4. Investigating mechanical and electrical failures or unexpected maintenance problems.
    5. Input into new product development processes;
    6. The introduction of new products, processes and equipment into the production environment;
    7. Engineering/Technical support to all production areas
    8. Design, sourcing, purchasing, commissioning and on-going support of tooling, fixtures and equipment to improve process efficiency;
    9. Support the training of production personnel;
    10. Creating and maintaining work method documentation, e.g. SOPs, work study;
    11. Ensuring all procedures and processes comply with H&S regulations

    Skills, Knowledge & Experience

    • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of industry experience.
    • Comparable industrial experience working as a process Engineer, Controls Engineer or Automation Engineer or Electricals Technician.
    • Ability to automate production processes with a working knowledge of PLC’s
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, ideally with a working knowledge of CAD;
    • A working knowledge of lean / 6 sigma tools is desirable;
