POULTRY INSPECTION SKILLS PROGRAMME

Team C – Evening Shift Monday – Friday 17:45pm – 02:00am

Day Shift – Rotating 12 hour shift

The poultry inspection skills programme provides an excellent opportunity to start a career as a Poultry Inspection Assistant. You will be provided with combined theory and practical training over a 12-week period by a subject matter expert. This training programme will lead to a qualification in poultry inspection accredited by DAERA (Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs).

A Poultry Inspection Assistant (PIA) will be expected to use their specialist knowledge to remove unfit meat from the slaughter line whilst monitoring and recording disease level in flocks. The PIA will also be responsible for monitoring bird welfare by identifying injured birds, therefore this role will involve working with PMI’s and Vets.

Essential criteria:

  • Able to communicate, read and write in English
  • 6-month food factory experience
  • Positive attitude to work and others
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
