Excellent opportunity for a Lecturer in Engineering based in Portadown or Newry Campus.

POST: LECTURER IN ENGINEERING

DURATION: PERMANENT

HOURS: FULL TIME

GRADE: LECTURER

SALARY: POINTS 1-5 – £22,851 (POINT 1 – MINIMUM POINT), £26,274 (POINT 2), £28,476 (POINT 3), £30,842 (POINT 4), £33,129 (POINT 5, MAXIMUM POINT)

Placement on the salary scale upon appointment is to the minimum point, incremental credit is awarded to holders of an approved university degree with honours at 2:1 level or higher (1 increment), and holders of a teaching qualification recognised to teach in the Northern Ireland Further Education Sector (1 increment). Progression to the maximum point is by way of annual increment. This position has the potential to attract a salary of up to £37,142 per annum subject to the award of Threshold (£2,640) and Deane payments (£1,373).

Consideration may be given to support the successful candidate to complete a relevant MSc in Engineering or Mechatronics within the first five years of employment.

LOCATION: PORTADOWN OR NEWRY CAMPUS (Base will be confirmed upon appointment) (There will be a requirement to travel to other campuses)

REPORTS TO: DEPUTY HEAD OF SCHOOL ENGINEERING AND CONSTRUCTION

JOB PURPOSE

Provide quality teaching and learning opportunities within the specific areas outlined in the post in order to maximise the potential of every student and to undertake non-lecturing duties as appropriate.

Eligibility Criteria

Essential

  1. A minimum of a Degree (or higher) in Mechanical, Electrical and/or Electronic Engineering.
  2. A pass grade at GCSE Level in English Language or Essential Skills Level 2 in Literacy or an equivalent qualification.
  3. A pass grade at GCSE Level in Mathematics or Essential Skills Level 2 in Numeracy or NICATS Access Maths Modules or an equivalent qualification.
  4. A minimum of one year’s post qualification, relevant industrial, teaching or training experience, within the last three years.

Desirable

  1. Post Graduate Certificate in Further and Higher Education PGCE (FE) or equivalent qualification   recognised by the Department for the Economy for teaching in Northern Ireland.

Other Essential Criteria

A full current driving licence which enables you to drive in Northern Ireland, and have access to a car for official business purposes. (Please refer to the General section in the application pack for further information regarding applicants with disabilities).
