Laundry Assistant – Palmerston Care Home , Belfast

£8.21 per hour

16 hours per week

Responsible to: Home Manager /  Deputy Home Manager   

Overview:

Abbeyfield & Wesley are pleased to advertise for a Laundry Assistant to join our enthusiastic and innovative team based in Palmerston Care Home, Belfast. The successful Candidate will join us at an exciting time in the Association’s development and be a key player in the successful delivery of an excellent laundry service to our Residents. 

This is a truly fulfilling role within an Association dedicated to encouraging enhanced quality of living and dignity and respect for elderly people within our communities. Key objectives:

  • To ensure that Residents’ laundry needs are managed and maintained to the Association’s high standard.
  • To ensure laundered items are appropriately cared for, ironed and/or folder.
  • To effectively manage clothing and linen to ensure Residents’ items are returned to them in a timely manner.
  • To distribute clothes and linen to the resident’s rooms as directed.
  • Actively manage and monitor the the usage of all laundry products and highlight any areas of improvement to line management.
  • To be responsible for the daily use of equipment and report any repairs to Manager and Maintenance.
  • To be conscious and diligent in regards to control of infectious substances.
  • To ensure the laundry skip bags are washed regularly and in line with requirements to enforce and maintain the Association’s strict hygiene regulations. 
  • To keep the laundry room and store area in a clean and hygienic condition. requirements to enforce and maintain the Association’s strict hygiene regulations.

Essential Criteria :           

  • Experience in a Laundry or Domestic role.
  • Ability to communicate and interact well with people.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • A willingness to undertake further training.
  • Ability to carry out all aspects of the role to a high standard at all times.
  • Good organisational skills.

Desirable Criteria:           

  • Experience in a similar role within a health or social care setting.
  • Working in services for older people.
  • Evidence of continuing training and development.
  • Previous experience and understanding in working with vulnerable adults.
