Excellent opportunity for a Horticultural Machinery Service Engineer and a Trainee Horticultural Service Engineer to join our small team based in Mallusk, Newtownabbey.

Horticultural Machinery Service Engineer

Main role involves:

  • Servicing and repair of grass cutting/small agricultural machinery
  • Operation of sharpening equipment
  • Mechanical fault diagnosis
  • Occasional operation of welding equipment
  • On-site repairs at customer premises

The successful candidate will be fully competent and possess the following skills/experience:

  • Knowledge of golf/garden grass machinery or small agricultural machinery
  • Experience in servicing and regrinding of cutting units; replacing filters, fluids and bed knives
  • Ability to work alone using own initiative or as part of a team
  • Be self-motivated  and work in a safe and efficient manner adhering to H & S regulations
  • Good communication skills
  • Full clean driver license
  • It will also be advantageous if the applicant possesses a trailer license and has the necessary skills to diagnose and repair hydraulic and electrical faults.

Hours of work:

  • 40 Hours per week dayshift

Trainee Horticultural Machinery Service Engineer

The successful candidate will learn a variety of tasks and skills related to this position including the repair/service of lawnmowers including small plant and machinery. Training will also be provided regarding the use of hand and power tools and workshop equipment and all relevant Health and Safety Legislation.

In this role the successful candidate will be working as part of a small team at our premises in Mallusk. No experience is necessary however we are looking for someone who has a keen interest in mechanics, is enthusiastic and willing to learn new skills.

The ideal candidate will also have a keen eye for detail and a positive attitude towards their work being able to take feedback from their superiors to improve their performance.

Good communication skills and punctuality are required for this role

Pay scale: National Minimum Wage rates apply, currently £4.35 per hour for persons aged between 16 to 18 years old.

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week dayshift
