Seagate’s facility in Londonderry is among the most advanced in the world in the design, development and volume manufacturing of recording heads, which write information onto and read information from the recording disc within the data storage device.

Facilities (Chemical) Engineer (Ref :FCE/190871)

The Facilities group have responsibility for functions that support a high tech manufacturing environment including: Production of Ultra-Pure Water; Treatment of Process Waste Waters; Legionella bacteria control; Assurance of water quality; Meeting environmental standards for effluent and scrubber exhaust discharge and other water and chemical systems..

We currently have an exciting opportunity for high calibre candidates who wish to be part of a team who are experienced in: implementing process-improvement methodologies, including understanding process control factors; minimising waste; increasing process up-time, project management, system maintenance and minimising impacts to our manufacturing & the environment.

The main duties of the position across our water plants and chemical equipment include:

  • Chemical Inventory Management
  • Ensuring correct chemistries and dosing are in place and set up
  • Ensuring plant operation and controls are as per design
  • Developing operation and maintenance programs to eliminate unplanned events and interruptions
  • The development and automation of key process inputs to provide early warning of possible failure and improve performance
  • Maximising efficiencies and overall cost of ownership including budget management
  • Working with Engineers, Technicians and outside vendors on plant operation and continuous improvement projects
  • Ensuring strong EHS safety practices are in place and compliant with corporate procedures and local legislation

Applicants must possess at least a 2.2 honors degree or equivalent in Chemical Engineering/Science or a relevant discipline degree with 2 years’ experience minimum.  Knowledge of Reverse Osmosis, Deionisation, or primary waste treatment including. Flocculation/Coagulation or Clarification would be beneficial.
