Data Engineer – Farmvet Systems

Farmvet Systems is a highly successful UK-based provider of digital tools to farm animal veterinarians. Their VetIMPRESS platform allows the vet to spend more time providing farmers with the best possible service and care for their animals. The technology increases efficiency and decision support for vets by improving the management of vet workflows, farm data and practice business insights.

Following our recent worldwide alliance with Vetoquinol S.A., Farmvet Systems Ltd is now going global with a strong global partner. We are currently recruiting a Data Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will have strong programming experience and will be be responsible for delivering solutions within the core asset of our business where we acquire, transform and analyse data for our clients in the veterinary and animal health sector.

Reporting to our Product Development Manager and working in close collaboration with our IT Department, your missions / main responsibilities will be:

  • Design data acquisition, transformation and analytical solutions from initial data assessment to development and deployment of models
  • Work closely with our business team, to on-board new customers through existing models and making changes where required to improve data quality within each customer’s specific environment
  • Create stored procedures, functions and triggers for various business requirements
  • Write complex queries with optimal performance as per the business requirements
  • Coordinate with the Product Development Manager, team members and other stakeholders (including clients) to meet business objectives
  • Evaluate SQL – at both a personal and team level – to ensure it meets industry standards, is valid and is compatible with browsers, devices, or operating systems
  • Develop test routines and schedules to ensure test cases mimic external interfaces and address all browser and device types

The successful candidate will have experience and knowledge of the following technologies:

  • SQL (MS SQL Server 2012 onwards) creating SQL queries, stored procedures
  • Database indexing and performance tuning
  • Integrating new datasets into data warehouse
  • Extensive working exposure in OLTP environments
  • Data analysis and trending
  • Maintaining coding standards with version history
  • Data warehousing: Relational database and data warehousing knowledge
  • Other RDBMS: e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, MSAccess

On offer is a salary of £32,000 – £40,000 per annum depending on experience + benefits, working as part of a small team based near Cookstown / Magherafelt.  Flexible working and some working from home is also offered.
