The post-holder will assist in the ongoing development of Queen’s clubs and societies within the context of the Students’ Union Strategic Plan and the vision for Queen’s Sport. They will assist in the creation of a regular and vibrant Clubs and Societies programme, working closely with the Vice President Activities providing a professional support service, both on an operational and administrative level.

Job Duties include:

  • To act as the main point of contact for current and potential clubs and societies, including dealing with general queries, meeting University information requirements and dealing with information requests.
  • To organise and deliver a training programme and prepare supporting materials to meet the training and development needs of clubs and societies. This includes performing an analysis of training needs, developing and delivering a programme of events that is up-to-date and ongoing.
  • To provide advice, support and operational and administrative support in order to ensure the effective implementation of the Students’ Union’s Constitutional requirements for clubs and societies.  These requirements include, but are not limited to, guidelines, appeals, rules and regulations and end-of-year reporting requirements of clubs and societies.  This duty includes the development and maintenance of a resource bank of support materials for clubs and societies, and the reporting of any failure on the part of any club or society to comply with Constitutional requirements.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A Degree
  • A minimum of 3 years recent relevant experience.
  • Experience of involvement in clubs or societies, or individual sporting activity.  This experience must be within a University or educational setting.
  • Experience of training programme development and delivery.
  • Experience of working with students or young persons in a one-to-one capacity.
  • Experience with and knowledge of essential legislative issues such as health and safety etc.
  • Experience of adopting an effective, flexible and customer orientated approach to work.
  • Demonstrable experience of providing excellent customer service.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours to meet the needs of managing the service (i.e. evening, weekend, public holiday work on a frequent basis).

Salary scale: £27,831 – £32,236 per annum (potential to progress to £35,210 per annum through sustained exceptional contribution)
