The Hatfield House one of the City’s oldest and busiest bars is looking for someone to join our team. We’re ambitious, hardworking, good fun and most importantly a family here. The right candidate will be looking for somewhere they can develop their skill set and advance both themselves and our business.

We are currently recruiting for a Chef De Partie to join our established kitchen team.  The ideal candidate will have at least 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role, and preferably in a similar setting.  They will be positive, enthusiastic and personable, an excellent communicator. They will set a good example to the whole unit by upholding a high degree of Company discipline, whilst at the same time creating a fun, team environment. Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to management of variable costs, producing consistent high quality dishes day in day out, ensuring that equipment is properly used to avoid unnecessary repair or replacement, providing for the safety and enjoyment of customers at all times. We are looking for someone who is keen to develop and ideally will be looking for a career in the industry. You will be working with a young adaptable and ambitious team with plenty of room for growth and personal development.

Reports to: Head Chef

Function: Food Service


Under the general direction of the Head Chef and the General Manager, and within the limits of the established procedures, to prepare and cook food to the standards set and to maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen.


  • To adhere to all standards established in the preparation, cooking and presentation of all foods
  • To ensure that goods are stored in the correct conditions and that stock rotation is carried out correctly
  • To maintain the hygiene of the kitchen at all times
  • To clean food production area, equipment and utensils
  • To be aware of costs and wastage
  • To ensure that a high standard of personal hygiene is maintained at all times
  • Any other duties relevant and related to the post.

Skills and Experience

  • Previous chef experience is essential
  • NVQ Level 2 & 3 in food preparation and cooking or equivalent qualification
  • Enthusiastic and a willingness to learn and develop new skills
  • Good knowledge of EHO (environmental Health Organisation) regulations, temperature checking
  • Team Player
  • Main Points of Contact – internal and external
  • Other staff in the premises
  • Delivery personnel
  • Other relevant information

20 hours per week, rising to more if agreeable to both parties.
