Roles and Responsibilities

  • You will be supporting the pharmacy manager to manage the daily running of the dispensary and front shop.  This involves managing, supervising and training pharmacy support staff to deliver a premium service to our customers. 
  • You will ensure you and your colleagues are keeping the business and customers safe and legal at all times. 
  • You will build excellent working relationships with Primary Care Organisations (PCOs) and GP surgeries. 
  • You will ensure payment claims are accurate for anything covered by the NHS. 
  • You will assist the pharmacy manager with budgeting and financial management of the pharmacy.
  • You will work to legal and ethical guidelines to ensure the correct and safe supply of medical products to the general public.
  • You will keep up to date with current pharmacy practice, new drugs and their uses.
  • You will be driving healthcare promotions/ initiatives and company promotions throughout the year. 
  • You will ensure that all key targets are met and that excellent standards are consistently delivered as this is crucial to the pharmacy and your success. 

You will work in customer-facing roles and provide an increasing range of services. Your tasks include:

  • Maintaining and improving people’s health by providing advice and information, as well as supplying prescription medicines.
  • Ensuring that different treatments are compatible.
  • Checking dosage and ensuring that medicines are correctly and safely supplied and labelled.
  • Selling over-the-counter medical products and instruct patients on the use of medicines and medical appliances.
  • Supervising the preparation of any medicines (not all are supplied ready made-up by the manufacturer).
  • Arranging the delivery of prescription medicines to patients
  • Keeping a register of controlled drugs for legal and stock control purposes;
  • Liaising with doctors about prescriptions.
  • Preparing dosette boxes and weekly packs.
  • Counselling and advising the public on the treatment of minor ailments; medicines/treatments;
  • Carry out specialist health checks, such as blood pressure monitoring, cholesterol level monitoring; diabetic screening, run stop-smoking clinics, and weight-reduction programmes (for example).
  • Undertaking Medicine Use Reviews (MUR).
  • Measuring and fitting compression hosiery;

Salary

  • Rate Negotiable Dependant on Experience

Working hours

Pharmacy hours:

Monday to Friday 9am- 6pm (1 hour lunch break)

Saturday 9am-12.30pm (Working 1 Saturday in every 3 or 4 Saturdays)

Qualifications

To apply for the position, possess a pharmacy degree, be a member of the GPhC (General Pharmaceutical Council) or a member of the PSNI (Pharmacuetical Society of Northern Ireland) , be MUR certified and be willing to have a criminal record check carried out. 

Experience in a community pharmacy (working as a pharmacist) is essential.
