SALARY: £59,634 – £63,480 PER ANNUM

(Management Spine points 23-26)

LOCATION: ARMAGH CAMPUS – *(Lisanally see note below)

Job Purpose

As a member of the College’s Senior Management Team, the post-holder(s) will be responsible for supporting the Director of Curriculum in the development and implementation of a fit for purpose curriculum offer that reflects the College’s strategic direction and mission.

The role will be achieved within a framework of strategic planning and a student-focused curriculum and in accordance with the vision of establishing the College as the leading regional centre for professional and technical skills training and education.

The Assistant Director for Curriculum (FE&T) will support the Director for Curriculum in the strategic development and delivery of the following areas:

  • Apprenticeships and Training (work based learning); and
  • Further Education

The Assistant Director will work closely through the Director for Curriculum with a number of external agencies including Awarding Bodies, DfE, employer groups and collaborative sector working groups to ensure that curricular planning is developed in a coherent and structured manner across Faculties.

The Assistant Director will play a direct role in monitoring the performance of each of the two allocated Faculties against an agreed set of key performance indicators including delivery against curriculum enrolment targets, quality measures, budget management, staff utilisation and resource management.

The post holder will work directly with the designated Heads of Faculty through the budgetary commissioning process, staff deployment, resource planning, and quality assurance processes. 

The Assistant Director will have line management responsibility for the Head of External Engagement who will lead the College’s Community outreach programme, Schools’ partnership and International work. 

Contracts for TFS and Apprenticeships NI will be managed under the existing Training Unit and the Assistant Director will have direct line management responsibility for the Training Manager.  The structure and function of the unit will be reviewed following the anticipated roll out of the new traineeship system from September 2020.  The Assistant Director will have responsibility for aligning the work of the Training unit with the Faculties and in particular the new arrangements for providing pastoral support, monitoring and course administration.

*NOTE: This post will be based in the Lisanally Campus, Armagh for the 2019-20 academic year, moving on a permanent basis to the Greenbank Campus from September 2020.

Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualifications

1.A degree or equivalent qualification at level 6 on the National Qualification Framework (NQF).

Desirable Qualifications

2.A postgraduate or professional qualification.

Essential Experience

3.A minimum of 3 years senior curriculum management* experience (in the last 7 years) which must include managerial experience in three or more of the key functional areas detailed below:

  • Curriculum management;
  • Curriculum development;
  • Quality assurance/improvement;
  • Employer Engagement;
  • Skills and Apprenticeship Training;
  • Performance Management;
  • Student Services;
  • Information Learning Technology;
  • Continuous Professional Development.

Desirable Experience

4.Experience of senior curriculum management within the Further Education sector

Other Essential Criteria

5.A full current driving licence which enables you to drive in Northern Ireland, and access to a car   for official business purposes. (Please refer to the General section in the application pack for further information) 

* Senior Curriculum Management is defined as management of people, resources and budgets at an appropriate level, likely to be at least within the first 4 tiers of the organisation.
