What the role includes….

Reporting to the Senior Accountant, the successful candidate will have the responsibility of Accounting for the Renewables business within Power NI. Key duties includes management reporting, business planning and forecasting, and ensuring adequate controls are in place and all areas of compliance are met. The Renewables Accountant will play a pivot role in developing further models and procedures for reporting and forecasting in respect of the significant renewables portfolio within the business, whilst shaping and delivering against strategic objectives and being a key driver of improvements and high standards of service and compliance.

Main Duties:

  • Responsible for the production of monthly renewables management reports for the Power NI Board
  • Ownership and preparation of Renewables detailed Business Plan forecasts, monthly LBE and rolling Cash Flow forecast
  • Production of month end accounting journals and completion of reconciliations
  • Managing relationships with key renewable generators, ensuring the KPIs are met and appropriate development opportunities are maximised
  • Act as a key point of contact for internal, external and compliance audits
  • Ensuring Tax compliance across the Renewables business
  • Provision of key information and analysis to ensure Ofgem compliance with all aspects of the Renewables business
  • Management of cash flows on a monthly basis to optimise cash flows for the business whilst ensuring generators are paid within agreed contract terms
  • Own and develop SAP reports, Cognos reports and financial models
  • Develop, improve and maintain policies, procedures and controls

Essential Criteria:

  • Full Professional Accountancy Qualification
  • Minimum of 12 months post qualification experience
  • Experience in producing management accounts & forecasts and working with complex models
  • Proficient In use of MS Office Suite with advanced level in Excel
  • Desirable Criteria:
  • Previous experience of working in a similar industry (particularly advantageous if in the Renewables business)
  • Modelling experience
  • Experience of using Cognos and SAP
