Job Title: Tool Maker

Department: Tool Room

Location: Craigavon

Vacancy: A vacancy has arisen within our Tool Room, for a Toolmaker, reporting to the Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Tool Design.

Hyster-Yale Craigavon manufactures 1-5.5T Counterbalance forklift trucks for the Internal Combustion Engine and Electric Rider markets.  The Manufacturing Engineering team take ownership of all the Manufacturing processes within the site.  Our goal is to implement robust, repeatable, safe processes that utilise lean manufacturing and new technologies to meet our production requirements.

Our responsibilities include implementing design changes through the adjustment of Manufacturing processes, driving continuous improvement and supporting production when faced with process challenges.

We are looking for a dynamic, proactive individual who is capable of manufacturing and maintaining precision tools and fixtures.

Key Accountabilities:  The successful candidate will be responsible for the manufacture and maintenance of tools and fixture across all production departments in Craigavon, Co Armagh.

Principle responsibilities of this position will include:

  • Bench work encompassing assembly of jigs and fixtures.
  • Operation of major tool room machines such as CNC mills, manual lathes, surface grinder, pedestal drills etc.
  • Carrying out work in accordance with quality and productivity standards
  • Working closely with the engineering department to develop and refine ideas relating to the improvement of set up / production

Criteria: Applicants must meet the following criteria:


  • 4 years’ experience of working in a Tool Room environment
  • Ability to read Engineering drawings and use measurement equipment
  • Extensive experience of manual tool room machinery (lathes, mills, surface grinder, etc.)


  • CNC Mill programming (Hurco Ultimax preferred)
  • Full Toolmaking Apprenticeship gained
  • This position may require shift work. Applicants must be available to work shifts.

Salary:   Days: £12.9391

Double shift: £15.5787

Night Shift: £16.9153
