Quantity Surveyor Junior/Senior

McL Construction Group Limited

Location: Magherafelt

Salary: £30,000.00 to £50,000.00 /year



  • Experience in Construction and fit-outs
  • Assist in the preparation and coordination of tenders for submission
  • Prepare and manage subcontract and material procurement
  • Assist in negotiation of contract sum
  • Oversee measures and report variances
  • Prepare valuations for interim applications
  • Prepare supporting documentation for the client and their consultants
  • Produce Bills of quantities
  • Monitor costs to ensure budgets are met and attend regular finance meetings
  • Liaise closely with Site Managers and Project Managers to record all variation items
  • Monitoring sub-contractor accounts
  • Preparation and submission of weekly financial reports to client and client QS
  • Monthly cost/value reconciliations
  • Monitoring cash collection
  • Finalising of project accounts
  • Managing several projects at different stages at any one time
  • Providing commercial support to the team
  • Promote best practice in Health, Safety and Environmental matters
  • Monitoring compliance of projects and following company procedures and best practice
  • Site visits and team liaison
  • Regular and accurate reporting to the Surveying Manager, Financial Controller and Managing Director


  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying
  • 1-5 years industry experience in Quantity Surveying
  • Experiences in drylining and fitout works would be a help but not necessary
  • Strong Commercial Awareness
  • Project Estimating Skills
  • Sound Project Management
  • Extensive understanding of Construction Industry
  • Excellent negotiating and communication skills
  • Accurate financial reporting
  • Strong IT literacy, especially Microsoft Office and Excel Packages
  • Full driving licence and access to vehicle
  • Happy to travel 2-4 days a month to Uk
  • Proficiency in administration, writing, numeracy, IT and MS Office
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
  • Enthusiasm and results focus, together with an ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Effective negotiation skills – both with internal and external customer
