Job Title: Production Supervisor
Reports to: Production Manager
Department: Manufacturing Operations
The Production Supervisor is responsible for all production related activities in a designated area to include but not limited to; staff, materials, costs, quality, H&S, adherence to plan, manufacturing efficiencies, recoveries, daily, weekly and monthly reporting.
Leadership – Translates departmental operational goals for his/her team – communicates the operational plan for the team – maintains the performance matrix – leads performance by example – implements plans to support business initiatives –- lives the company values – achieves results through leading and managing the team
Management – Manages the priorities for the team – manages and implements work plans for the team – contributes to the design of manufacturing workflow optimisation – ensures adherence to operational disciplines within the team – delegates duties to direct reports – allocates resources – ensures that production area is maintained and organised – reports on the team’s performance against KPI’s daily, weekly, monthly – ensures that operational problems are resolved – contributes to ongoing projects
Business Financial Results – Keeps up to date with departmental and team related sales, volumes, costs – monitors the team’s performance against the operational plan for the business – manages the team to deliver on key customer requirements – ensures customer satisfaction – analyses and is responsive to quality and non-compliance issues – delivers on KPI’s – contributes to projects – is seen as the business process expert
People Development – Ensures that the team have the necessary skill requirements to perform their role – supervises, advises and supports the team – is aware of the needs of the team and intervenes accordingly – coaches and feeds back to the team to develop performance – actively identifies and supports superior performers – actively identifies under performers – contributes to the recruitment process
Relationships – Has effective relationships with key contacts across the business – maintains harmonious relationships within the manufacturing team – fosters good relationships within own team – has effective relationships with customers and suppliers
Communication – Communicates effectively to achieve specific objectives – secures support for ideas and initiatives by ensuring staff understanding – communicates relevant information in an efficient and timely manner – communicates with SMT on business related performance issues
Growth and Innovation – Responds positively to operational changes – keeps abreast of new technical, operational, professional initiatives – contributes to the development and implementation of systems, processes and standards improvement – ensures business initiatives are implemented successfully – takes the initiative to improve operational and business processes
Health & Safety – actions Health and Safety issues in an efficient and timely manner – ensures adherence to safe working practices within the team – contributes to Risk Assessments – carry’s out Health and Safety Audits on a monthly basis – ensures that safety problems are resolved
