 Job Description

We are seeking to recruit a Full-time Technical / Quality Assurance Manager to join the senior team and lead the Technical and Quality Assurance function within the business.


The Company:

 Based in Craigavon, Co. Armagh, Wilson’s Country Ltd specialises in pre-packed, peeled and cooked prepared potatoes.  We supply food retailers, caterers and food processing companies with a range of products, offering quality, taste, full traceability and value for money.


The Job:

Reporting to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will join the senior management team to lead the technical and quality assurance function within the business.

With support from the Assistant Quality Manager and a small Quality Assurance team, the successful candidate will manage all operational activities as well as contributing to the overall business strategy.

Key accountabilities will include:


  • Lead, manage and effectively implement HACCP, food quality systems and product specifications across the business;
  • Manage food safety compliance  and adherence to legislative requirements;
  • Manage implementation of relevant industry and customer standards within the business
    • E.g. Codes of practice (TFS), BRC, Environmental standards;
  • Manage food safety and industry standard audit processes, both internal and external;
  • Manage relevant external services for the business (e.g. pest control, laundry, contract cleaners, chemical suppliers);
  • Ensure NPD is carried out in a risk assessed manner;
  • People management (Q.A. / NPD);
  • Interact professionally with third parties, enforcement agencies and customers, including general public and multinational retailers.


The Person:


Ideally you will have:

  • A third level qualification in a food or science related discipline;
  • Significant relevant food industry experience, ideally within fresh produce;
  • A strong working knowledge of HACCP, BRC, Tesco TFS and food legislation;  
  • People management experience;
  • A pro-active, practical approach to problem solving and decision making;
  • The ability to work efficiently, effectively, accurately and on own initiative in a fast paced

          working environment;

  • A professional manner, excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills;
  • I.T. skills, sufficient for the needs of the role;
  • A flexible approach to working hours outside of the core Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm to facilitate, for example product launches, audits, travel to G.B. /R.O.I.
