 Job Description

Part of the Student Services team, ensure students needs are meet.

To assist the Head of Section, Student Services in ensuring that the provision for educational support reflects the priorities set by Government policy and the strategic direction and mission of the College and the Support and Development Directorate.

 

                                 To contribute to a systematic process of review, evaluation and planning of the educational Support provision.

 

                                 To ensure that students have an educational support entitlement that is effective and efficient and is consistent across the College.

                                

                                 To make an effective contribution to Quality Improvement.

 

                                 To contribute to the Student Support Operational Plan and to the College Development Plan.

 

Operational           To contribute to the standardisation of student education support procedures across campuses which will assist Assistant Head of Departments in maximising student retention satisfaction and achievement;

 

                                 To monitor the quality of student education support across the College and to contribute to improvement strategies;

 

                                 To agree performance criteria and achieve agreed targets for all areas of Student Education Support;

 

                                 To assist the Head of Section, Student Services in developing a quality provision for careers advice and guidance;

 

                                 To monitor and review learning support provision across the College to ensure equitable and effective service;

 

                                 To undertake as appropriate, student Needs Assessments ensuring delivery of support provision is equitable and inclusive;

 

                                 To contribute to learning strategies, policies, procedures and operational management of student learning support in adherence with best practice models;

 

                                 To develop Cross curricular strategies the enhance the student learning experience;

 

                              To deliver (or co-ordinate delivery) of specialist training for staff in regard to working with students who may have specific physical or learning difficulties;

                                

                   To ensure that all data relating to Student Education Support and

                     Careers Guidance is collated as required;

 

                                 To contribute to an ethos of high quality customer care;

 

                                 To ensure that an appropriate level of service is available and accessible across all campuses, and is maintained throughout the calendar year and College day;

                                  

                                 To undertake duties, as appropriate, in support of the wider Planning and Student Service Directorate.

 

 

People                    To act as line manager for staff working in the Education Support unit;

Management         To assist in the review of staffing of the Unit to ensure the effective and efficient use of staff;

 

                                 To participate, as required, in the recruitment and selection of staff in accordance with College policies and employment legislation;

 

                                 To ensure that effective arrangements are in place for staff development in the Unit and that performance reviews are conducted in accordance with agreed procedures;

 

                                 To assist in the identification of human and technical resource requirements for learner support on a needs basis. 

 

Financial                To assist the Head of Section, Student Services to manage, monitor and review the budget (Additional Support Funds, including DEL earmarked funding) and identify and implement appropriate remedial action as necessary.
