Tracey Concrete Ltd

Originally founded in 1974, Tracey Concrete Ltd has grown steadily and currently employs 150 people in its plant in Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh. The company manufactures and supplies a wide range of precast products including Jacking Pipes, S&S pipes, manhole chambers, coverslabs, caisson rings, kerbs, lintels and sills, cattle slats. In recent years Tracey Concrete has been working closely with contractors to produce more bespoke products allowing more work to be complete off-site. This includes Tracey Concretes Perfect Bases, bespoke coverslabs, large wetcast Jacking pipes, etc. The company has supplied products to contractors in the UK, Europe and Canada and the strategic aim of Tracey Concrete Ltd is to be recognised as a World Class Supplier of precast concrete products for civil engineering applications.

We wish to recruit a skilled graduate to work as a KTP Associate in Tracey Concrete Ltd in collaboration with Queen’s University Belfast. Through this Knowledge Transfer partnership, the aim is to develop an innovative solution to use what is widely considered a waste material in the pre-cast concrete industry. This project will deliver sustainable manufacturing practices that will positively impact the environment and the health and safety of workers in concrete manufacturing processes.

This position is ideally suited to a Civil Engineering graduate looking to gain a vast and wide range of engineering knowledge with the longer-term ambition of embedding in the Tracey Concrete Engineering team. This programme is the ideal opportunity to train within Tracey Concrete where you will get to work alongside and learn from the seven Engineers already within the company. Tracey Concrete gives the perfect opportunity for someone to learn due to the wide range of areas the company manages including reinforced concrete design, precast concrete manufacture, construction, quarrying, etc.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Hold, or be about to obtain in July 2019, at least a 2.1 Honours Degree (or equivalent) in Civil or Structural Engineering or a closely related discipline. Applicants who hold a 2.2 in the above, will also be considered if they have either a relevant higher degree or have completed one years’ relevant work experience.
  • Completion of a relevant research project, module or student placement. Applicants should indicate how their experience could be applied to this post.
  • 3 months’ relevant work experience. 
  • Understanding of concrete materials.*
  • Understanding of cement chemistry.*
  • Experience in Structural Testing.*

*(may be demonstrated through the completion of a module, student project or placement).

Anticipated interview date: Tuesday 26 March 2019

Salary scale: £24,000 to £34,000 per annum. One of the key KTP benefits for graduates is access to a £11,100 training and travel budget over the 28 month project.
