Technical Helpdesk Manager

The Role

Reporting to the Technical Manager, the successful candidate will manage the Helpdesk team, prioritise and allocate engineering requests for the creation or altering of 2D/3D engineering drawings, as required by clients/operations department. Based at our Lurgan site their key responsibilities will include:

  • To review and build Bills of Materials (BOMs) and organise Solidworks models onto the PDM shared server
  • To be the key point of contact for the Production and Business Improvement Teams for the development and implementation of new production processes for manufactured parts on the ERP system
  • To assist with product development and design standardisation
  • Management of the Helpdesk Team
  • Manage all Helpdesk requests, prioritising calls as required
  • Direct training and development of the Team on drawings and ERP
  • Oversee the generation of approval drawings in accordance with customer specification
  • Oversee the creation and/or maintenance of manufacturing packs for the Operations team including drawings, BOMs and manufacturing documentation
  • Manage the engineering change process for the range of standard products
  • Maintain department records and documentation
  • Maintaining PDM server to ensure procedures are followed

The Applicant

Candidates must be educated to HND level, or equivalent, in an Engineering discipline and have previously worked in a manufacturing environment. They must also possess the following skills and competencies:

  • A good working knowledge of CAD (2D/3D)
  • A degree in an Engineering related discipline, or equivalent level qualification, is desirable
  • Candidates who can demonstrate a sound knowledge of Solidworks will have an advantage as will those who have experience in ERP/MRP, SolidWorks PDM and/or Drive Works
  • Advanced communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • A natural ability to collaborate with team members at all levels and make quality decisions
  • The successful candidate will be adept at managing complexity, planning and aligning goals and driving results
  • Applicants who can demonstrate a keen customer focus and a ‘can do’ attitude will have a distinct advantage
